Dear Bottled in Man

I am sorry that you feel an unceasing pressure to carry on a weight that is too much for you. A weight that constantly breaks, desensitizes and destroys your soul. You do not have to go at it alone anymore. She is here for you.

I. Love. You. – This simple three-word sentence carries the most weight of any word combinations I know, because;

Love is patient
Love is kind
Love does not envy
Love does not boast
Love is not proud
Love does not dishonor others
Love is not self-seeking
Love is not easily angered
Love keeps no record of wrongs
Love does not delight in evil
Love rejoices in good
Love always protects
Love always trustsLove always hopes
Love always perseveres
Love never fails.
– 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8a

When she tells you she loves you, she knows exactly what that means.
She needs you to forget all the false ‘macho man’ teachings you were raised with, and start the process of accepting her love, wholeheartedly.
She sees your leadership potential, yet seeks your tears. Those tears pent up from years of taking the pain in bloody silence because someone lied to you and said, ‘you’re a man. Men don’t cry!’She promises not to mock your transparency.

Her love will be within, around and over you as long as you let it.Treat-yourself-with-love-and-kindness
Her love means she is ready, no, fully equipped to be your safe haven.
She would give anything to see your walls come down… yes, the walls you built around your fragile, raw emotions, and coated with a pretentious fabric of big smiles, and the sick idea of whatever you may think it means to be a man. Over the years, those walls have gotten higher and thicker, to the point where even you, you do not know what the true inside consists of.
Her love will cheer you on as you work hard to break those damned walls.

Her love is a strong force! Don’t you worry, it will carry you through the challenges of life.
Her love is your beacon of hope and light, ready to illuminate your path.
Her love is food to your starved soul.
Her love permits you to bring out the boy inside.
Her love ensures you’ve had a good meal, and that you have enough to keep you going, whatever enough means.

Her love constantly tries to understand you, respect you, and communicate with you.
Her love is motherly, yet romantic. Sexy, yet caring. Stern, yet welcoming.
Her love is fire for your gloomy days, and ice for fiery days.
Her love will challenge you to be the best version of yourself.
Her love comes with no strings attached, and expects nothing in return.

Her love is steady.rg
Her love is loyal.
Her love is sweet.
Her love is safe.
Her love is wholesome.
Her love is you.
Her love is exactly what you need.

Dear men, those who have been taught to bottle it all in, please, accept her love.

I love you, honey.

  1. Great read!!! Hope we men esp. African men learn to let go and show or carry our emotions clearly for our significant other to see our vulnerability so they can truly be a “helpmeet”.
